I had the pleasure of joining fine jeweler Wendy Brandes and a wonderful group of bloggers/friends for the opening night of Sex & The City 2 at the Ziegfeld. Wendy's Cleopatra earrings were selected by Pat Field for the film - and were the stars of the night as Wendy lent us all a pair. I was a sad Cinderella at the end of the night when I gave them back.
I somehow managed to take Wendy's hand-carved onyx skull ring off her finger and put it on mine. The skull is flanked by green tsavorites - with diamonds randomly clustered INSIDE the ring (I love hidden stuff). I thought maybe if I said Beetlejuice a couple times we would be transported to another universe where I owned this ring and Wendy owned my black hair elastic 'bracelet.' Alas...
The good news is, she makes other skull pieces that are equally precious and timeless, though somewhat less chère - see them all (and the Cleopatra earrings) here. While you're saving up, you can read her blog.
(And I rounded up a fine collection of skull items under $50 on Etsy, all of which you can see here).

The pleasure was all ours! Thanks for coming!!!
Leave it to Wendy Brandes to hide diamonds inside a ring!
I love Wendy Brande's jewelry (though regrettably I don't own any of her pieces yet!) she is s a real artist. Her pieces are interesting, different and without fail, totally fabulous :-)
I don't like the whole skull trend - with one exception, Alexander McQueen's Skull scarves and bangles - but this ring is stunning! I would definitely wear it. If I could afford it, that is ;-)
Those Skullduggery earrings you have in your Etsy favorites are really fun, too!
Your collages are works of art. Literally I save every single one. :)
Ps. I updated my blog today wearing my long black H&M dress I remember you wanting me to give you the heads up a while back. ;)
Have a great Holiday weekend!
xx
That's my all-time favorite piece by the lovely Wendy B. Am also slightly obsessed with the memento mori jewelry from back in the day. So macabre yet so wicked cool.
I'll never forget when I first saw that ring on her hand, I gasped mid-sentence and was all "That's the...!!!" And then couldn't talk.
I wanted to know where that coin came from or who made it. Cuz I love it an I want a tattoo of it let me know. I love the fashion on your blog,
One love
Hi Tate,
This is where the coin came from .... you can go on that site and research it a bit more, I agree it is amazing and would make an incredible tattoo!
