Thoughts on the new season

So you may have noticed a few changes here ...  I updated my header and the sidebar a bit to give more info to new readers, and I made the comments area bigger and dropped you guys a note ... please know I read EVERY comment and I love to hear your feedback.  If you have ideas for a 5 Under $50 (something you're searching for) or a vibe you want to see in a collage, just let me know...  And of course, feel free to let me know what you think of the (sort of) new design.

Heading into Fall and another IFB Con and Chictopia10, a few thoughts: THANK YOU deeply for supporting this blog everyone ... I cannot wait to see familiar and new faces this year.  Please let me know in the comments if you're coming to either event.  Would love to meet in person.

Also, I edited IFB's Links a la Mode this week and it's all about rethinking your Fall wardrobe, so take a look and discover some new sites after the jump>

Looking Forward to Looking Back for Fall

Edited by: Ann of Holier than Now
Every season begins with looking back: the designers revisit trends of yore, and we fling open our oversized Tupperware bins and dig through the back of our closets to see just what it was we wore this time last year. Despite the thrill of new trends, most of us probably feel that the first Fall shopping we should do is in our own closet (View from 5 ft. 2 and Your Saving Style inspire on this front). Next step: after considering your bank account, and perhaps the pros and cons of fast fashion (see: Consumerism Killed My Soul), a visit to your local thrift store or flea market for vintage finds might replace that mall excursion you were imagining. With a wealth of inspiration from the blogosphere, there's never been a better time to invest in - or just be inspired by - style from the past.

i like the new header, but think it needs a tad more pop to make it obvious that it's the header - like take that green tag that's behind the text and apply it to the top as well. sorry not even sure if that made sense.

are you going to nyfw!?

yes i am! see you there!!!

thanks for your thought on the header. it does make sense. i am always going back and forth on header school of thought - should it be super obvious or no? Will contemplate.

what if i center it? i was debating about that too... but i think i was so used to the old way that i didn't want to move it...

Thanks for featuring me this week :) And I like the new look. Seems a bit cleaner and neater now. Love it actually!

This is working. It's clean and there's space for lots of things to hold a reader. I think it's seriously one of the best layouts I've seen. I love that the header is not centered, not to add to the confusion. It's giving space where usually there's congestion. This is a very good thing. And did you do this? It's very very good.
