A Short Story

I love it when seemingly dorky or "professional" pieces suddenly feel so relevant.  It's all in the way you wear it - as usual.  I want a cropped pant (I didn't say capri - those few inches make a big difference ... ) to take me through to Spring - and here's why:

  1. A cropped pant gives socks a reason to be - the toe of a sock is not cute OK?  It's the ankle part that needs visibility... look at the pop of pink and that great contrast of grey in the above
  2. Works as well with a platform wedge as with flats or kicks
  3. Office-ready.  That's important, cuz pants aren't cheap (I tried to do a 5 Under $50 here - yeah right), so they need to be versatile
  4. Suddenly my knee-high boots make sense again (is it just me or does a high boot with a heel seem wrong this Fall/Winter?)... but peeking out of a cropped pant, it's new again

This kind of references my old Catalogs You Should Secretly Shop post, because it's such an example of a great basic that you can buy at a "classic" store - you don't need to invest in designer and I pretty much don't believe in buying pants at fast fashion stores, because the fit and fabric is so important.

^^ SHOP IT ^^

1. Marni on sale at the Outnet for $281 (I know that's a lot, but they were $805) | 2. NSF at Revolve $123 | 3. Ann Taylor - love the pleated hem detail - $118 | 4. Talbots - kind of rock star right? - $99 | 5. Nastygal $70

Would you wear a cropped pant? Or roll your own - so to speak?  If you remember cuffing your pants back in the day ... you're old, but I feel you ; )  Me too.  But I was super young I swear!

Ann! Thank you for your comment. It was so nice meeting you at Lucky. I am so short it is hard for me to find pants that are even shorter. And so I opt for rolling. I love a rolled chino with oxfords or a pump. Either way, I'm all over those pink socks.

Erika

Nice post! I'm used to crop my pants, especially when I'm wearing high heels, it looks more lazy so!
Have a nice weekend!

Heck yeah, I'd wear cropped pants. There are very few things that I won't wear. Lol! My philosophy when it comes to fashion is NEVER SAY NEVER! Anyway, I just bought a pair of pegged cropped pants on Asos and they were on sale for about $40. Run. Go. Now. They are super cute! I mean SUPER CUTE! They also come in a burnt orange color, but it's not on sale so it is about $60 but still a good deal.

Oh and you are so right! The extra inch or two makes all the difference. Capri's are cute too, but a cropped pant is so chic and of the moment, right?

ooo loooking now. thanks!

awh I love the format of this. I love a good cropped pant, just above the ankle, and strictly only in s/s!

Great post, and great blog! So glad to have come across you via IFB's Links a la Mode (I made the list too!). I'll definitely be following.

I love this trend. And trend that can easily be incorporated into my working wardrobe is a big plus for me.

I love your story boards!!! Trousers are so in and yet I still can't seem to find my perfect pair :(

I totally get what you mean about knee high boots - but under trousers - so totally works!!

Great post :) xx
